Hix All-Star Cup

This summer, instead of having the usual Riker Cup, we will be hosting the inaugural Hix All-Star Cup! It will be a best-of-3 series of 10v10 matches. Each team will be headed by its own captain.

Sunday, July 12, 19:00 GMT/15:00 EDT - The Live Draft @bzflag.allejo.io:5144 - This (optional) event will occur at a yet-to-be-determined server, where the two captains will be on opposing teams. In a one-by-one alternating fashion, each captain will draft the player he wants to add to his own team. There will be a total of 14 players per team (10 starters, 4 alternates). The player pool of eligible draftees will be all who sign up using the link below Whoever wants to play in these matches can sign up, whether they're from North America, Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa, or wherever, and whether they are active or haven't played in years. Come out and find out which team you'll play for and with what number pick you were drafted! After a player is drafted, he can join the team with his captain. After the teams are made, each team can use the server to discuss strategies, times to meet up, etc. to prepare for the matches on July 25!

Sunday, July 26, 19:00 GMT/15:00 EDT - The Cup -The best-of-3 10v10 matches will occur at yet-to-be-determined servers. Players, show up 5-10 minutes beforehand or earlier to warm up! Everyone else, come watch this 10v10 epic clash between the giants of the GU League!

Official GU/Ducati League Merger

Over the past few months, there has been an effort led by GU and Ducati representatives to merge into a single, unified league. Simply put, the Ducati League seems to be all but dead and the GU League is persisting on life support. We hope to maximize activity and eliminate competition between two different leagues for the same player base by focusing all our efforts into one common goal.

While there have been a multitude of great ideas on what this league should offer, the players should ultimately decide what they want from their BZFlag experience. For this reason, a poll has been created so we can collectively decide how exactly this new league will be implemented. The poll includes questions such as the name of the new league, what maps it should include, how we should address current bans from existing leagues, and many others.

Special thanks go to allejo and alezakos, among many others, for working out much of the minutia, including updates to his League Overseer plugin and the new league website. allejo has specifically mentioned a statistic-recording element to League Overseer that should yield many exciting opportunities in this new league.
